I designed Castrise to be minimal, sculptural and balance masculine/feminine elements. I added subtle and thoughtful details such as a beveled and hand-painted outsole edge, exposed insole back wrap, elongated strap-end and a textured welt.
I designed the sculptured heel to make Castrise look higher than it actually is: the pitch is a little shy of 3 inches but will appear more elevated. Designing a minimal upper that was also secure was my biggest challenge with Castrise. It took us over twenty prototypes and fit samples (and countless fittings between foot models in Italy and New York) to achieve.
